ABOUT US

At its inception in 1981, Joseph & Company was primarily a real estate appraisal firm. The company grew and diversified through the years to include more disciplines in the real estate field.  The creation of a separate division known as Joseph Properties further expanded the firm’s professional capabilities by integrating property development and management to its existing appraisal and consulting services.

Appraiser & Staff Profiles

Our team of appraisers and support staff have worked together at the company on a long-term basis. Each of us draws upon the expertise of others within the company and we work together toward the common goal of providing unsurpassed products and services to our customers.  A brief profile of each appraiser and staff member is listed below.

Leo Joseph (Founder & Partner)

Mr. Joseph began his real estate career as an appraiser in 1975.  In 1981 he founded Joseph & Company, Inc., a residential, commercial and industrial appraisal firm.  He then expanded the firm to include development, management and ownership of a variety of properties, including retail, office, single/multi-family, and manufactured home communities.  His goals are focused on continued expansion of the firm and its valuable members and providing leadership, professionalism and quality service to all our clients.

Robye Read (Administrator)

Robye brings extensive knowledge from many different aspects to the Company.  She has worked at the City of Hoover, Building Inspections Department, for over ten years, a licensed Real Estate agent for 10 plus-years and was Owner/Administrator of a local new construction company.  She serves as the Company's Administrator including accounts receivables and payables, as well as Property Manager. 

Frank Allen (Commercial Appraiser & Manager)

Frank attended Jacksonville State University and Jefferson State Community College and holds an Associate Degree in Real Estate.  He has 35 years of experience in the real estate industry in the State of Alabama, including residential sales, mass appraisal for Ad Valorem Tax Equalization and independent fee appraisals.  He currently specializes in multi-family properties, urban mixed-use properties, right-of-way appraisals and properties involved in litigation.

Mike Hollon (Commercial Appraiser)

Michael Hollon attended Middle Tennessee State University and Troy State University where his major studies were history and business economics.  Mr. Hollon has 34 years of appraisal experience in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, and Maine.  His primary responsibilities with Joseph & Company are appraising commercial properties, including undeveloped land, office and retail sites, hotels, and gulf coast resort properties.

Floyd Bischoff (Licensed Trainee Real Property Appraiser)

Floyd joined Joseph & Company in 2010.  He attended Samford University and holds a degree in Bus. Admin with emphasis on Finance, Insurance & Real Estate.  His background in the financial services industry as a Financial Consultant for 17 Yeras with a Series 7, 63, & 75 Licenses as well as a Life & Health Insurance License adds to the Company's wealth of knowledge.  His background also includes Apartment Management and Commercial Food Services.

Vince Howell (Residential Appraiser)

Vince Howell graduated from Marylhurst University with a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Studies.  He has 12 years of real estate experience, including appraisal, brokerage, and construction.  Prior to joining Joseph and Company, he was the principal owner of The Howell Group, LLC, a residential appraisal firm located in Birmingham.  He is currently in the final stages of obtaining his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute.  Mr. Howell currently specializes in recreational/agricultural land, as well as industrial, office, retail and multi-family properties. 

Dennis Joseph (Residential Appraiser/Manager)

Dennis is a 1974 graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a BS degree in Business Administration. He has over 25 years of experience in the real estate industry, with experience in real estate sales, home building and appraisal.  He is a member of the HUD roster of approved FHA appraisers and is approved by the Alabama Real Estate Appraisers Board as a Mentor Appraiser. His appraisal experience includes performing appraisals for Conventional and FHA lenders, Relocation Companies (ERC Trained), Estate and Litigation, and private individuals.

Cyndi Kelley (Licensed Trainee Real Property Appraiser)

Cyndi began working for Joseph & Company in 1995.  Her duties started as the assistant to Commercial Department Manager;  assisting in the management of day-to-day operations, billing and collections, communications with clients and other Real Estate Appraisers.  She has assisted in preparing narrative commercial real estate appraisals, trained staff in computer applications, reviewed in-house appraisal assignments in accordance with USPAP standards, maintained databases, researched current and historical data and has been involved in various field inspections.

Judy Masoner (Administrative Assistant)

Judy has been with Joseph & Company since 1998. She provides clerical and technical support for all departments. Judy also conducts property research and manages all administrative aspects of appraisal project setup, tracking, billing and report production.
